Solutions: Is DIY Home Automation Damaging for KNX? — 2 Comments

  1. I don’t find how the KNX products “ticks all of the boxes” compared to other home automation products having both a simple wireless setup and an easy integration thanks to an open API.

As an example, the Netatmo weather station can be remotelly operated by the “ImperiHome” Android application. This app can also remote control a wide range of hone automation devices (even KNX ones) through an hone automation box (vera, zipabox, eedomus, zibase) acting as a bridge.

Integration can be brought to an higher level with the IFTTT (if this then that) compliance : any “thing” can trigger events that operates another device, even if those devices are not on the same network or technology.

Wired solutions like KNX stay the most safe and secure, but they reauires a high price tag, costly and complex setup, and can’t provide the simplicity of wireless solutions.
