The Code of Practice for Connected Systems Integration in Buildings aims to promote good practice in the specification, design and integration of connected systems in buildings, as well as providing a reference to practitioners on design, integration practice and technological considerations working to meet key functionality and customer requirements.

This document covers common built environment and technical installation challenges, with the aim of enabling improved connectivity, communications networking and connected systems integration for user access in residential and commercial buildings. As such, it focusses on currently available technology, and the process for integrating existing technologies.

Starting with the needs of the users and the requirements of the technology itself, this Code of Practice outlines the planning steps essential to the success of a connected systems integration project, including recommendations for considerations around such necessities as cable routes, equipment space and ventilation, network bandwidth and power distribution.
