KNX UK Announces its Award Winners at 2015 AGM

KNX UK is delighted to announce the winners of its 2014 awards, presented at its annual AGM in Bracknell, Berkshire.

The award scheme celebrates the best in KNX innovation and installation over the past 12 months, as well as recognising those individuals that have helped to extend the reach of the brand.

The prestigious award for Installation of the Year has been given to Design Innovation for the Great Minster House Show Home and Concierge Area in Westminster, London. Established in 2004 by current owner Nick Gale, Design Innovation was set up to offer a complete one stop shop for technology, building controls and energy management for both residential and commercial applications. The development of the show home led to the installation of KNX in 61 apartments, and demonstrates how KNX can be used to provide outstanding control when using multiple manufacturers.

KNX technology is central to the building control, providing both the apartment and concierge area with lighting, heating, comfort cooling and blinds management. This allows the end user to operate the technology through a Control 4 touchscreen and Gira temperature controller in each apartment, whilst also giving building staff control from the concierge area.

Siemens Building Technologies was awarded Product of the Year, for the DALI Twin and the Twin Plus KNX. The new KNX-DALI gateways introduce DALI gateways supporting two fully operational DALI channels, each with 16 scenes and 16 channels. These devices offer a number of key benefits to KNX-DALI installations including access to groups, as well as individual ECG data, allowing for a quick change of a faulty ECG via a keypad and display on unit, meaning ETS is not required.

The KNX Champion of the Year was presented to Sophie Thomas for an outstanding contribution to developing the KNX UK brand. Sophie achieved this during her time as marketing and events expert at Ivory Egg, regularly demonstrating exemplary skills in social media, advertising and marketing. The KNX Association has benefited greatly from Sophie’s hard work, and wishes her the best in her future role.

“The KNX awards give a great opportunity to celebrate the talent we have within the KNX community. Each winner was very deserving in their category and showed a real understanding of the capabilities of KNX. We are already looking forward to seeing next year’s entries!” commented Iain Gordon, President of KNX UK.

As well as announcing the award winners, the 2015 AGM featured an in depth talk on the new ETS5 software and a Q&A session hosted by the KNX UK President Iain Gordon.
