The multi-talent for building technology
Stand 7-N176, ISE 2016
The Gira G1 is the new, compact and visually appealing room operating device for the KNX system. All the functions can be operated intuitively by touching or gesturing on the excellent multi-touch display – more easily than ever before.
The simple operation is ensured by the Gira Interface, which is a completely new development and features a user-friendly symbol system including large fonts and easy-to-understand symbols. The Gira G1 has a wide range of uses, from lighting and blinds control to room temperature setting, programming of timers, calling up scenes up to door communication. The KNX room operating device is operated via PoE (Power over Ethernet). In combination with the Gira push-button sensor 3 or a KNX CO2 sensor it can also be used as a room temperature auxiliary unit. With the integration of the free Gira online weather service, weather forecasts can even be called up with the G1.
In combination with the Gira DCS-IP-gateway and a door station video, the Gira G1 can also be used as a home station. When the doorbell rings, the device automatically changes over into door intercom mode. At the touch of a finger, communication is initiated, the door is opened, or the light is switched on if necessary.
The visual impression is captivating: The Gira G1 looks extremely delicate, appearing to almost float on the wall. The design is linear and puristic, and the materials are high-quality. The continuous front panel consists of scratch-resistant special glass which is 1 mm thick. The real metal frames underline the elegant design. The models in black glass and white glass harmonise with almost any interior design concept.
The brilliant 15.25 cm [6″] TFT colour display offers a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and 155 dpi to guarantee an extremely clear representation of images, graphics and text. It can be easily read from any viewing angle. The display is automatically adapted to the respective lighting conditions via a brightness sensor. In addition, an integrated proximity sensor detects when a person approaches the device, and the display switches on automatically. When the G1 is not in use, the display switches off to save power, making Gira G1 an energy-efficient solution.
Placing a hand on the display allows a predefined direct function to be called up directly. The Gira G1 then acts as a switch for ceiling lighting, for example. Installing the Gira G1 is extremely simple since it can be inserted into a single device box and is suitable for modernisations, retrofitting and new constructions. Installation is in three easy steps: First, the flush-mounted connection module (Power over Ethernet, 24 V WLAN, 230 V WLAN) is installed in the device box. A holding frame is fixed on the flush-mounted connection module and attached to another box or screwed to the wall with two screws. When the installation work has been completed, the display module is clipped into the holding frame.
The Gira G1 central operating unit including the new interface design was designed by schmitz Visuelle Kommunikation (Wuppertal). The Gira G1 will be available for delivery from 01 Febuary 2015.
