Elsner Elektronik Presents Smart Home KNX Radio Applications at Light + Building 2016

The new KNX radio standard connects wireless modules with building automation systems

Owners of KNX Smart Home installations will be very happy: those wanting to upgrade can now do so without having to go to the trouble of laying cables. Motor control units for shutters or windows previously had to be connected to building automation systems via cables. If there was no existing connection to a bus system, that meant cutting gaps into walls, laying cables, re-plastering the walls and redecorating. All of that is now a thing of the past thanks to the new KNX radio applications presented by Elsner Elektronics at the Light + Building 2016 trade fair in Frankfurt.

The KNX LC-TP line couple is the interface between the wired KNX bus (twisted pair) and the KNX radio. The KNX RF-MSG-ST actuator easily and quickly integrates window or sunshade drives into the KNX system. This type of wireless connection is particularly advantageous in listed buildings.

The radio actuator is plugged in between the drive and the power supply. Set-up is done via the KNX software – ETS. The actuator function can be carefully adapted to the drive used in the application. Automatic runtime capture via current measurement is particularly useful.

Elsner Elektronik uses KNX RF S-standard radio components. This allows easy integration of radio products into the KNX bus system.

“Previously when clients wanted to connect new KNX products to their existing systems, they had to open up walls and lay cables, sometimes in a house that had just been renovated. That creates a huge mess, and no one wants that. The radio modules make upgrading much easier. This is an obvious advantage, especially in places where cables can no longer be laid,” explains managing director Thomas Elsner.

In addition to the KNX radio applications, Elsner Elektronik also presents further innovations at the Light + Building trade fair between 13 and 17 March 2016 in Frankfurt am Main. There will also be new colour variations available for the Corlo system. What’s more, the Sewi, Salva and Vari KNX sensors as well as the Suntracer KNX sl weather station and other products will also be presented. The stand is in hall 11.1 C26 at the Messe Frankfurt.
