Motto of the world’s leading trade fair: ‘Where modern spaces come to life: digital – individual – networked’
Light + Building is the world’s leading trade fair for lighting and building-services technology and the market and meeting place for all international market leaders. Altogether, 2,589 exhibitors from all over the world will be making presentations in Frankfurt am Main from 13 to 18 March 2016. Light + Building is distinguished by the combination of lighting and building-services technology – with a spectrum of products unrivalled in terms of depth and breadth. The industry will be showing intelligent solutions, future-oriented technology and the latest design trends on 248,500 square metres of exhibition space in 22 halls. At the same time, a varied and interesting complementary programme of events will reflect the most important subjects from the fields of lighting, electrical engineering and home and building automation.
‘Where modern spaces come to life: digital – individual – networked’ is the motto of Light + Building 2016. This covers the latest trends in the luminaires market, the influence of light on people, networked safety and security, intelligent home and building automation and efficient energy management. With these trend themes, the world’s leading trade fair for the sector is in tune with the times and an up-to-the-minute information platform.
The world’s biggest presentation platform for the lighting market
Renowned companies such as Artemide, Bankamp, Bega, Brand van Egmont, Erco, Faustig, Flos, iGuzzini, Ingo Maurer, LG, Louis Poulsen, Lumileds, Nimbus, Osram, Philips, Samsung, Schréder, Tobias Grau, Trilux, Vibia Lighting and Zumtobel, are indicative of the extensive range of lighting products to be seen at Light + Building.
Around 1,650 exhibitors will present the complete spectrum of products for the lighting segment: manufacturers show their latest technical luminaires and lamps, as well as street lighting and outdoor luminaires for public areas. Also to be seen are technical, design-oriented luminaires and decorative light fittings for the home and business premises in all styles and price categories. Rounding off this part of the fair are lighting components.
Digitalisation is an increasingly important factor in the lighting sector, too. With well thought-out and networked lighting control systems, it is possible to adjust different components, such as light colour and dimming, individually. Human centric lighting, i.e., the impact of light on people’s performance and sense of well-being, is also a trend theme in this field. The integration of lighting into the architectural plans is becoming more and more important when it comes to new buildings: the trend is towards individual stylistic elements in lighting design. Parallel to this, designer luminaires and technical luminaires that serve as independent objects continue to be important and are being further developed. Trade visitors can find out more about these and other trends at the world’s biggest platform for the lighting market: Light + Building.
International meeting place for intelligent building-services technology
The focal points at Light + Building 2016 are digital building, the smart powered building, building information modelling (BIM) and safety and security technology. The electrical engineering and home and building automation segments play a vital role in the construction and operation of intelligent and networked buildings. Building-services technology and automation systems with innovative measuring and control are an important aspect of integrative systems technology. Other product groups in this field include electrical installation and network technology, design-oriented electrical installations and building-systems technology, photovoltaics, facility management and contracting.
World-famous brands are represented in the electrical engineering and home and building automation segments of Light + Building 2016. Among the exhibitors who have signed up to present their latest products at this year’s event are ABB, Beckhoff, Busch-Jaeger, Eaton, Gira, Hager, Jung, Legrand, Mennekes, OBO Bettermann, Phoenix Contact, Rittal, Schneider Electric, Siedle, Siemens, Stiebel Eltron and Wago. The exhibitors in the building safety and security segment include Assa Abloy, Axis, Bosch Sicherheitssysteme, Hekatron, Mobotix and Schüco. Also represented at pavilions are the various bus technologies, e.g., BACnet, EnOcean, KNX and LON.
Light + Building is supported by Germany’s leading trade associations, the German Central Association of Electrical and Information Technology Contractors (Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie e.V. – ZVEI) and Central Association of the German Electrical and Information Technology Trades (Zentralverband der Deutschen Elektro- und Informationstechnischen Handwerke – ZVEH). Thus, the ZVEI has its own exhibition stand at the fair where it offers insights into the expertise of the electrical industry and the benefits of energy-efficient systems. The ZVEH is also represented at Light + Building and offers information about the electrical and IT trades.
