The e-magazine for KNX home & building control

PEAKnx Launches Award-Winning 8-Inch KNX Touch Panel Controlmicro

With its high-resolution 8” display and the included YOUVI visualisation, the PEAKnx Controlmicro is ideal for room control of a KNX building. The KNX room controller can be used as a client or as a stand-alone KNX server. A direct KNX connection and the included IP router software make it possible. The Controlmicro is equipped with Windows 10 LTSC and allows you to use all Windows and web-based visualisations. It can be mounted flexibly in portrait or landscape format and is available in two design variants. Among other things, the panel impressed the jury of the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2021 with its high-quality fabrication and ambient lighting. It is available from August 3, 2021, and can be pre-ordered from now on.

Red Dot Award 2021 for high design quality

The international expert panel of the Red Dot Award has honoured the Controlmicro with the Red Dot Design Award: Product Design 2021. In addition to design and aesthetics, functionality, ergonomics and longevity are also decisive factors in the award process. Among other things, the Controlmicro impressed with its ambient lighting. The LED lighting on the frame of the panel can be used, for example, to highlight certain lighting moods or to display various statuses in the building control system. Integrated sensors for CO2 and brightness, measure the air quality and ensure a balanced screen brightness. A proximity sensor switches the 8-inch TFT full-colour screen on only when required.

Unlimited variety in small dimensions

Like the two larger PEAKnx panels Controlmini and Controlpro, the slim Controlmicro operates under Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC. It can be used with the included PEAKnx software YOUVI as well as with other common visualisation programs for room and home control. YOUVI Basic allows control of all common devices such as lighting, heating, blinds, etc., both via the touch panel and via the free smartphone app. Further functions, such as the integration of cameras, logics or voice control, can be added as required. The Controlmicro can be used as a client or, for smaller projects such as a one-family house, as a stand-alone KNX server. A direct KNX connection and the included IP router software make it possible. In addition to the KNX connection, there is also an Ethernet connection as well as WLAN and Bluetooth. Loudspeaker and microphone are also integrated for use with door intercom systems.

Flexible integration into the interior design

The Controlmicro Smart Home Panel can be mounted easily over a standard 55 mm switch box with a standard screw spacing of 60 mm and a minimum depth of 35 mm. This makes the KNX Touch Panel well suited for retrofitting, as no additional chiselling work is required. Depending on one’ s preference, the KNX room controller can be mounted in portrait as well as in landscape format. Especially in public rooms it is an advantage that the panel can be secured with an anti-theft device. Matching the respective interior design, the Controlmicro is available with a black frame and black front glass or with a silver frame and white front glass.
