Sustainability in ETS

Michael Critchfield takes a look at how sustainability is at the heart of ETS and how it can utilise what is already there and build on a long-lasting foundation.

November 2024 is Sustainability Month at the KNX Association. Sustainability is key for the association and for its members, and it is also at the heart of ETS, the one commissioning tool for all KNX Products.

Visit sustainabilitymonth.knx.org to find out about the series of events dedicated to showcasing the role of KNX technology in creating a sustainable future organised by various KNX National Groups.

This November: KNX Sustainability Month.

For ETS sustainability means utilising what is already there and building on a long-lasting foundation. That is why ETS is backwardly compatible for existing installations and all KNX products, not only the latest innovations, but especially those KNX devices from the early days.

For example, you have an installation that deserves an upgrade after years of trusted use and plentiful benefits. This can easily be accomplished, either by the ETS version you already own, or by looking at the latest additions, and an upgrade to ETS6.

Staying up to date with ETS6 offers even more benefits. You can collaborate with KNX Partners that already use the latest version and benefit from their expertise, as well as to take their work on your installation into your own hands.

KNX is known for peace of mind, be it for the ideal customisation of your installation according to your preferences, or for its long-lasting performance.

Speaking of performance, just as a KNX Group Address can be used to switch off a lamp or lower the Room Temperature Setpoint, it can also be used to control your building’s energy consumption, oversee charging your electric vehicle or decide to store excess solar energy in a water heater or electric battery. KNX does it all and with these applications in energy management, KNX and ETS are well equipped to support the transition to full sustainability – not just today, but from its foundation.

Sustainability is at the heart of ETS.

In the last month we had a look at newer solutions for creating and extending a KNX installation. All these options have sustainability at their centre, either to bring KNX to more buildings and let owners and residents benefit, or from preserving existing installations and allowing them to grow. With the latest KNX technology, the feasibility is greater than ever and sustainability is within reach.

Conclusion

Take a look at what KNX can do for your building. Reduce the carbon footprint, manage energy consumption and extend the building comfort, be it with lighting, ventilation, heating or cooling. Go with what is right for future generations and what will benefit you already today and for a long time to come: KNX with ETS6.
