Ivory Egg Invests in the Future of Renewable Energy by Sponsoring the University of Wollongong Solar Decathlon Team

Ivory Egg is using its vast knowledge of KNX systems to invest in the future by supporting the University of Wollongong (UOW) Solar Decathlon Team.

The Solar Decathlon, also often dubbed the Energy Olympics, is a contest which challenges university teams from all around the world to design, build and operate sustainable solar powered homes. The next competition is being held in Dubai in 2018 and the Team of University of Wollongong will start with their project ‘Desert Rose’, a technologically advanced, age friendly home. The project shall change the way the world views sustainable housing by building a home that is architecturally inspiring, affordable and adaptive to a person’s needs as they continue to age, creating ‘a house for life’.

As one of the foremost KNX technical distributors in Australia, Ivory Egg is proud that the UOW Solar Decathlon Team decided to use the internationally recognised KNX technology as their preferred building control protocol over all other available systems. Ivory Egg is pleased to sponsor the UOW Solar Decathlon Team by providing the required KNX training and to support the UOW team with its extensive product knowledge on their way to hopefully win another Solar Decathlon.

What is KNX?

KNX is the worldwide standard for home and building control. It is widely used throughout China, the Middle East, Europe, the UK and is rapidly gaining traction in New Zealand and Australia. KNX is an open protocol standard with over 400 manufacturers making over 7,000 products that can all communicate and work together. KNX networks includes lighting control, heating and cooling, security, audio/video, metering, blind control, high level building management system (BMS) integration to mention but a few, and all systems interact seamlessly on the one KNX bus to achieve new standards in automation and energy efficiency.

If you have any further questions regarding KNX technology and its various possibilities for energy saving and building control, please do not hesitate to contact the Ivory Egg team: info@ivoryegg.com.au or phone +61 1300 811 510.
