Hager Group announces construction of a new 24,000 m² logistics platform to support its growth. With an opening planned for 2020, the new platform will be located in the industrial zone ‘Ecoparc Rhénan’ in Reichstett, in the Greater Strasbourg area, France.
This logistics platform will be managed by the group and ensure the delivery of export orders (except for France and Belgium) and the restocking of other European warehouses. The group’s ambition is to reach three billion euros in turnover within the context of a favourable market dynamic in Europe. In order to respond to this and to acquire new customers, Hager Group is adapting its logistics offer to serve targeted sales channels across various types of logistics activity. This investment at Reichstett will be followed by others, also in logistics, in France and Germany in the coming three years.
According to François Lhomme, Chief Technical Officer and member of the Board of Directors “…we are organising and planning our flows worldwide, from our platforms to our customers, who include distributors, electricians, DIY stores and project managers. The major challenge of logistics is accelerating flows in order to respond as quickly as possible, sometimes the next day, to customers who are in search of reactivity. The group chose to purchase this site due to its proximity to current installations, efficient support from local authorities and bodies in Alsace and the excellent transport connections. ”
For several months, Hager Group has been considering the optimisation of its logistics network in order to adapt to recent developments and anticipate the profound changes in the sector while providing the means to support the company’s ambitions for growth.
This project will span the next two years and allow the group to get employees in the logistics department on board at every stage in the development of the new platform. The priority for Hager Group is now to enter into the development phase of the construction project and plot of land.
