Concurrent event programme receives positive feedback for insight on market trends
The Guangzhou Electrical Building Technology fair has concluded its 2014 edition on 12 June to overwhelmingly positive approval. The four-day show, held from 9 – 12 June once again at the China Import and Export Fair Complex in Guangzhou, showcased a wide range of some of the most innovative solutions in electrical engineering as well as building and home automation from around the world. For its 11th edition, the show welcomed 290 exhibitors from 11 countries and regions, including Australia, Belgium, Germany, China, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Taiwan, the UK and the US. Together with the Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition, the two shows welcomed 129,885 visitors from 132 countries and regions.
Commenting on the 2014 show, Ms Lucia Wong, Deputy General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (Shanghai) Co Ltd and organiser of the fair noted: “To cope with the long-term development of the show, this year we moved the building show to halls 9.1 and 10.1 in Area B of the fairground, and continued to attract a strong number of visitors. Thanks to current and upcoming urbanisation and building constructions in China, many visitors came to source electrical components as well as building and home automation products at the fair. For exhibitors, I believe the show served as an exceptional platform for business expansion and strongly reflected current market trends in Asia. The show’s significance to the industry grows larger every year. And I am honoured that we are able to provide such an effective platform.”

Whether they were an exhibitor or visitor, attendees to the 2014 show were nearly unanimous in approval for Guangzhou Electrical Building Technology being able to connect them with decision makers. Long-time exhibitor, Schneider Electric, returned for another year to not only reaffirm its strong position in building technology development, but to look for new business leads. Based on comments from Ms Xin-Candy Zhao, Marketing Communications Manager for the firm’s Eco & Buildings Business division, the fair did not disappoint. She said: “The Guangzhou fair is very influential in the industry. It is also an effective platform for us to promote our brand and products as well as look for business partners. During the fair, we received many serious enquiries from distributors and professional visitors. By attending this fair, we aimed to receive 1,500 leads. I am very confident we reached this target. We will certainly come back next year.”
For exhibitor Z-Wave Alliance, the fair served as one of the best avenues for tapping into the growing market for home automation in China. Mr CK Sze, representative of the alliance in China shared: “This is our first time joining the show, and dedicated to promoting Z-Wave technology in China. During the fair, we met many professional visitors with serious enquiries. The overall fair arrangement was very professional.”
Attendance numbers were also highly praised from participating exhibitors. Mr Kevin Kwan, Technical Consultant for Asia Pacific at Echelon Asia Pacific Ltd noted: “Visitor flow was exceptional; we kept busy the entire time at the fair. The four-day fair was truly a success for us, and we look forward to next year’s edition.”
For visitors, the 2014 show represented some of the best brands and diverse range of products and solutions available on the market. Mr Angus Chau, Project Manager at IDP Power Technology Ltd said: “My company manufactures electronics and electrical appliances, as well as components for power solutions in LED lighting and renewable energy. I have been attending the Guangzhou fair for many years. I must say there were more international brands this year and the product diversity was amazing. I was also able to learn more about my competitors at the show and current trends. It was a very fruitful visit for me.”
Fellow visitor, Mr Stoyan Palchev, Director of the South China office for REV Ritter (China) GmbH commented: “I noticed that although the fair’s location has been changed, the visitor flow was still very good. Overall, I believe there were more quality brands at the 2014 edition, and the products showcased were more comprehensive. To me, the event was a success, and I will definitely be here again next year.”
