Sara Fan summarises KNX Association’s presence at ISE 2025.
Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) is the premier event for the AV and systems integration industry. This year’s show took place 4 – 7 February 2025 at the Fira de Barcelona. It hosted 1605 exhibitors and welcomed 85,351 unique verified visitors from 168 countries, marking a 15.5% increase from the previous year.
From KNX Association’s point of view, ISE 2025 kicked off with an impressive start, drawing in a diverse crowd from across the smart home and building automation industries. The KNX booth, strategically positioned near the main entrance of Hall 2, proved to be a major attraction, spanning an expansive 260m².

Strong interest in KNX IoT and new installers
One of the key takeaways from this year’s event was the growing interest from KNX manufacturers in developing KNX IoT devices. As the industry moves towards greater connectivity, the demand for IoT-enabled KNX solutions continues to rise. Additionally, there was a noticeable influx of future installers from the AV industry looking to expand their services by integrating KNX into their offerings. This trend highlights the increasing recognition of KNX as a fundamental standard for smart home and building automation.

A special celebration: #KNXis35
Throughout the KNX booth, visitors were greeted with #KNXis35, a prominent theme celebrating 35 years of KNX innovation. This milestone serves as a testament to the longevity, reliability, and continued evolution of KNX technology.

Visitors also explored the diverse development possibilities available to KNX members, including TP (Twisted Pair), RF (Radio Frequency), IP (Internet Protocol), and IoT (Internet of Things), encompassing devices, services, applications, and integrated solutions.

A showcase of global interoperability
The KNX booth featured 29 KNX member companies from around the world, each presenting their latest innovations and demonstrating the power of interoperability within the KNX ecosystem. These exhibitors highlighted cutting-edge solutions designed to enhance smart home and building automation, reinforcing KNX’s reputation as the global standard for open and secure automation. KNX at the Smart Building Summit
Beyond the booth, KNX played an active role in knowledge-sharing through its participation in two key sessions at the Smart Building Summit, held on 4 February.
Session: Understanding the New 2024 EPBD and Its Impact on Smart Buildings
KNX Association Marketing Team Leader, Casto Cañavate, explored the implications of the 2024 Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and how it will shape the future of smart buildings.
