Hello [NAME]
We start this issue with an exclusive interview with KNX Association CFO & CTO, Joost Demarest, on KNX Secure, in which he discusses strategy and progress so far, and also gives some useful links, as well as a heads up on the forthcoming KNX Secure Roadshow.
Given the sweltering temperatures here in London and elsewhere, heating may be the last thing on your mind, but there is a lot of new build going on, and heating will be specified. In preparation, Simon Buddle takes a detailed look at radiator valves, and offers some helpful suggestions on adapting to real-world changes to the original quote.
Next, in a bid to increase KNX being specified for projects worldwide, Mark Warburton encourages us to stop talking about its technical prowess. Rather, he suggests asking customers about what they want and perhaps as importantly, don't want, from a building automation system, which inevitably leaves KNX as the only logical choice.
This approach is exemplified by the Urban Sciences Building at the University of Newcastle. Robin Baddley of IBT Controls provides us with a fascinating case study on this award-winning project, for which KNX was used as the common platform across all elements of building control.
Although we don't have a newsletter for August, do keep checking our news at the website which is regularly updated, plus the resources section which is packed full of useful documents and videos. Also, if you have any projects you would like us to consider for publication, do get in touch, and don't forget to send a picture of you, your smile and the KNX logo for our 'Where is KNX?' gallery. We'll be back in September, so in the meantime, enjoy the summer!
